Epic Restraint
This might seem like a contradiction, but with this collection, it’s anything but: Studio Special Brass gives you both screen-filling epicness and subdued, introspective muted tones in a production-ready package. Brimming with fascinating contrasts, it delivers everything from “big and bold” brass statements to the subtle elegance of muted colors. All solo instruments and ensembles were recorded at the Silent Stage, Vienna’s purpose-built studio with a tightly controlled ambience. The result are dry, pure and pristine samples that let every detail of these instruments shine in all their brassy glory. You can place and reverberate these instruments with the included convolution reverb, derived from Vienna MIR Pro 3D, as well as the beautiful algorithmic reverb of the Synchron Player’s full-blown mixer.
Variety & Wagner
Soundtrack staples like the flugelhorn, the piccolo trumpet, the cimbasso or fanfare trumpets provide the foundation for many modern movie scores. Trombones take you from classical to jazz and the muted variants in this collection let you delve into somber soundscapes. At the other end of the spectrum are instruments for “larger than life” orchestral arrangements, i.e., the “Richard Wagner orchestral brass”: bass trumpet, contrabass trombone, Wagner tuba, and contrabass tuba. The acclaimed “Epic Horns”, an impressive sounding ensemble of eight double horns, not only embodies the sonic ideal of the theatrical late Romantic orchestra but also excels in creating captivating modern soundtracks and production music.
