Description

PSP 285 is based on our legendary PSP 84/85 delay plug-in and is our latest exploration of the endless possibilities offered by variable sample rate delay lines. It can produce an extremely wide variety of delay-based effects - from simple slapbacks and echoes to complex rhythmic patterns, from faithful magnetic tape delay simulations to twisted out-of-this-world pitch-shifting and resonant filtering effects - all at world-class audio quality.

  • Semi-modular architecture
  • Up to 10 seconds of delay (pre + main) time per channel, depending on internal sampling
  • frequency
  • Pre-delay for each channel
  • Continuous delay time control over the delay time
  • Cross-channel feedback and independent channel settings
  • Channel link mode
  • Delay gating for improved control over number and level of echoes
  • Stereo (L/R) or Mid-Side (M/S) operating modes
  • Wet signal ducking for improved sound clarity
  • Modulation section with a tempo-synced LFO and envelope follower that can be mixed
  • in any proportion
  • A wide selection of envelope follower control signals in linked or unliked mode
  • 6 click-free LFO waveforms as well as variable LFO offset and phase channel spread
  • A selection of 17 different filter types, with adjustable cutoff and resonance as well as
  • flexible routing capabilities
  • Post filter or independently routed Drive algorithm with hard and soft saturation modes
  • Multi algorithm reverberation module including springs, plates, various spaces, and
  • reverse, available in both mono-to-stereo and dual mono modes
  • Flexible reverb positioning in the signal chain: dry, wet, or mixed wet+dry delay output

    A great and characterful delay

I have way too many delays but when I demoed this one I couldn’t resist. It’s very well thought out with lots of editing and routing options and sounds incredible. It’s really more than the sum of its parts. This delay is capable of sounds not possible with other plugins. The reverb module is a nice addition, the filter section is crazy!

    Never gets old

I used to own the PSP 84 about 20 years ago. I mostly relied on presets and tweaked from there cos, back then, its structure and signal path seemed quite obscure to me. I eventually sold it, and after owning maybe 60 other delay plugins since, I just bought the PSP 285. It wasn't (just) nostalgia—this is a serious piece of gear.

This isn't your average delay plugin; it's a self-sufficient sonic universe. You can craft everything from classic tape echoes to wild, pitch-shifted textures and lush, reverb-like pads. The sound, as is always the case with PSPaudioware, is real, meaty, and superb.

If you're a beginner, it might seem a bit overwhelming, but it's absolutely worth spending some time to RTFM. For what it's worth, the way it shapes sound is so profound it could be sold as a synth

    Flexible and good sound!

    This sounds good!

    A lot of good presets.

    Digital delay on its best.

    Very flexible.

    Probably my favorit ITB delay.
