Sound is Color
Warm. Cold. Dark. Brilliant. Silky. Lush. Juicy. Fat... Notice something? We use the exact same vocabulary for colours and textures than we use for sounds. The word "Klangfarbe" isn't a metaphor. It is how our brain actually processes sound: the true nature of sound is colour.
Made for Creatives
If sound is colour - why are most synths complex, techy, full of numbers, algorithms, and operators? Abyss II is built on a simple yet radical premise: a synth designed around how we actually experience sound. It keeps you in the flow rather than forcing you into abstract formulas. Just play with colours, as you would mess with paint.
Your Secret Superpower
Your taste is your secret superpower! Stop asking: "Is this correct? Am I doing this right?" Instead, simply pick and combine sound-colours, place them on the "gradient" and ask yourself: "Does it sound interesting to me?". This naturally leads you to your own, unique signature sound. And you can feed it anything: the noisy call of a distant crane recorded with your phone, a vocal snippet or the sound of plugging in your guitar. As one musician said: "I am still trying to find a sample that does not end up as an interesting sound."
But...Where's The Catch?
We asked ourselves the same thing. So we gave Abyss II to professional musicians and sound designers. Put mildly, they fell in love:
Abyss Design Team
Abyss synth is created by Peter V - mathematician by education, musician by heart. He believes you can find music in everything and that drawing inspiration from visual art can only benefit composition and sound design.
Peter is a veteran in artificial intelligence and founded his first startup already two decades ago. The recent progress in this field made him believe that there is a vast opportunity in applying machine learning to sound design. After quitting his dayjob it took almost two years of research and dozens of prototypes to develop the innovative sound engine and user interface of Abyss.
He aspires to create a new generation of tools that are inspiring and joyful to use and uncover interesting new sonic possibilities.
