About the MF-103S 12-Stage Phaser

The MF-103S 12-Stage Phaser is a re-invention of Moog Music-s classic MF-103 analog effects pedal.

The MF-103 12-Stage Phaser, introduced in 1999, contained two complete modular functions: a 6-stage/12-stage voltage-controlled Phaser and a voltage-controlled wide-range Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO). Designed by Bob Moog and his engineering team, the MF-103 was a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers, adapted to process, modulate, and play with inputs ranging from guitar, voice, and synthesizer to any imaginable audio source.

The MF-103 Stage Phaser has been meticulously recreated as the MF-103S, capturing not only the psychedelic enveloping sound of the original, but also the organic way in which the parameters interact to create a musical playing experience.

With CV interconnectivity, stereo functionality, an extended feature set, the ability to run multiple instances, and presets, the MF-103S plug-in further tailors the classic Moogerfooger functionality to the modern digital creator.

MF-103S Expands on Classic Moogerfooger Pedal

The MF-103S also introduces unique features not seen on the hardware instrument, including:

  • OUTPUT MODE recreates the original MF-103-s MAIN and AUX outputs and allows you to route those in STEREO configurations.
  • LFO TYPE switches between the MONO LFO of the original or creates a second inverted LFO for STEREO modulation.
  • The MF-103S 12-Stage Phaser offers CV Inputs for LFO Rate, LFO Amount, Resonance, Phaser Sweep, and a second Sweep input to modulate the two sections of six stages independently, as well as the capability to attenuate or soften these modulations.

The Sounds of the MF-103S 12-Stage Phaser Effect

The Moogerfooger Effects Plug-ins range from clean filtering to wildly experimental modulation designed to manipulate, enhance, and fully transform any sound. Each with its own distinct identity, these effects are designed to work perfectly alongside one another in your audio chain.

Hear how the MF-103S 12-Stage Phaser sounds in this collection of samples created by synthesist and Moog instrument expert Lisa Bella Donna.

Pretty little thing with a huge sound

The sound of the Moog MF-103S can be described perfectly in one word: FAT!

Or even better: SUPERFAT...Use it with guitars, synths or even vocals. This patchable little beast won´t disappoint you in any way. Strictly speaking I love all those moogerfooger filters for their very unique analog sound.
