Description

  • A meticulous model of the original Drawmer 1976 Stereo Three Band Saturation and Width Processor
  • Fully licensed and enthusiastically endorsed by Drawmer
  • Three bands of saturation and width, plus added plug-in features

There's a reason they call us the Swedish Masters of Distortion. Joining Tape, Harmonics, Overstayer M-A-S, Dirty Tape, Saturation Knob, and more is your new favorite analog mojo box – in the box. Tap into the power of three bands of saturation and width with the utmost analog quality for bigger, more impactful mixes.

Drawmer 1976 Three Band Saturator authentically captures the sought-after sound and features of the original Drawmer hardware so you can accurately target frequency areas of percussion, bass, synths, vocals, and full mixes. Skip the broad-brush distortion that single-band saturation can introduce and infuse your sound with warmth, punch, excitement, and 3-D immersive qualities. It's as easy as one-two-three bands.

On saturation & multi-band saturation

Saturation is a sound that evokes the analog era, when recorded signals ran through various pieces of hardware, picking up that hardware's unique character as they traveled. The subtle form distortion that's added lends pleasant-sounding harmonics to the mix.

Multi-band saturators can do things that single-band saturators cannot. With independent bands of saturation, you can pull out the bassline by adding distortion to the top end without ruining the overall balance of the mix. Or sweeten your vocals without making the bottom sound muddy.

Three independent bands

Saturation adds fullness to your music, moving it from chilly and barren to warm and sunny. With three bands, Drawmer 1976 does this with finesse, letting you target vocals, for example, or a bassline. Add to that three bands of stereo width control, and you can truly pull out the depth and add presence to your mix.

Stereo widening

With the three bands of Drawmer 1976, your mix goes from flat to fully 3-D and oh-so-engaging. For example, you can position the high frequencies across a wider soundstage without impacting the low-frequency end. The plug-in includes the original width mode, Analog, plus the added Digital flavor.

Tips! Mono Switch

Drawmer 1976 alters the phase between the left and right channels to control the stereo width. Therefore, activating the Mono Switch will combine the stereo channels, and the phase of the left and right will cancel each other out, leaving just the signal that lies in mono. This lets you hear what signal will be lost when played in mono and emphasizes when you've gone too far with the width controls of each band. Get more tips and tricks in the Drawmer 1976 User Manual.

Plug-in-only perks

We've laid out the interface of Drawmer 1976 to be as intuitive as possible. To optimize the workflow, we also added plug-in-exclusive Low and High cut filters and improved upon the LED metering.

System Requirements

  • macOS Ventura 13, Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15
  • Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 11
  • Softube account
  • iLok account
  • Computer with AU, VST, VST3, and/or AAX-compatible DAW host software

Supported CPU Families

Apple macOS computers with Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or Apple silicon (M1 or newer) CPU. Apple silicon is supported natively.

Windows computers with quad-core Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or AMD quad-core processors with SSE 4.2 support.

Other Intel processors (Celeron, Pentium, and Xeon) are compatible if they support SSE 4.2 instructions.

Supported Host Software (DAW)

Any 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, or AAX (Pro Tools 11.0.2 or higher) compatible host application should work. However, due to plug-in host differences between DAWs—and our rigorous standards—we only officially test our plug-ins and instruments in the most recent versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Studio One, and Reaper. Softube plug-ins are not tested regularly in non-listed systems. They will likely work if the system requirements are met. However, we cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems.

We strongly recommend using VST3, as some of our plug-ins have features that are not present in the older VST format. Supported sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz, in both mono and stereo. The most recent maintenance release of your DAW application is recommended. AAX DSP is not currently in active development. TDM/VENUE/RTAS are no longer supported. See our Legacy Installers.

it definitely deserves to be used

I'm still studying it. But I can already say that I am very happy to have it.

On the toolbox it has performed very well.

It works magic on kicks, basses, and synths.

On the mixer bus I haven't found a use for it yet.

    My trust

I don’t know all the technical details of the saturation sound, but I trusted Softube, so I went ahead and bought it. The fact that it’s multiband is really useful — there are frequency ranges you just don’t want to affect on certain tracks. I’d definitely recommend it.

A must have for in-the-box producers

Easy to use, classy sound, puts the final “juice” and “glitter” on your mix.
