    Great value for the price

Great for getting *quickly* to a 80% efficiency of your initial mix after balance in few minutes for all your tracks, very good set of EQs and compressors/limiters. low latency too.

A Huge Workflow Upgrade for Mixing

I recently picked up Slate Digital’s Virtual Mix Rack (VMR), and after spending some real time using it in actual sessions, I can confidently say it’s one of the most workflow-friendly mixing tools I’ve used.

The biggest strength of VMR isn’t just the sound — it’s the speed. Being able to build a full channel strip (EQ, compression, saturation) inside a single rack completely changes how fast I can move through a mix. For vocal production especially, I can set up a solid chain in seconds without constantly opening and managing multiple plugins.

The included modules like FG-116 and FG-401 complement each other really well. The FG-116 is great for fast, aggressive dynamic control, while FG-401 smooths things out in a more transparent way. Stacking them gives very musical and controlled results, especially for pop and K-pop style vocals. The FG-N and FG-S EQs also bring a nice analog-style tone — not overly surgical, but musical and pleasant, which works great when shaping tone rather than fixing problems.

In terms of sound, VMR definitely has that analog-inspired character. It may not be the most “clinically precise” compared to something like FabFilter, but that’s not really the point — it adds vibe and cohesion, which is exactly what I want in many cases.

CPU usage is also very reasonable, which makes it easy to use across larger sessions without worrying too much about performance.

That said, it’s not a complete mixing solution on its own. You’ll still want tools for de…
