Tutti Symphonic Riffs

BBO Riffs propels your scoring to new levels with exhilarating symphonic riffs and patterns, performed by the entire Vienna Synchron Orchestra. Each riff is a 4-bar phrase, orchestrated in the contemporary film scoring style and imbued with the power, precision, and grandeur that define Hollywood’s most thrilling soundtracks. From tense rhythmic pulses to unstoppable chase cues, these riffs transform a simple chord progression into a fully orchestrated blockbuster moment.

The phrases are organized in three intuitive categories, easily accessed via key switches:

• Main Themes: Full orchestral phrases spanning the entire tonal range.
• Low Riffs: Driving rhythmic figures performed by the lower registers of strings, woodwinds, and brass.
• High Riffs: Bright, energetic patterns featuring the upper orchestral ranges.

All phrases are available at 120, 130, and 140 bpm, across root notes over up to two octaves. Thanks to real-time time-stretching and host tempo synchronization in the Synchron Player, you can combine and adapt riffs effortlessly across tempos and tonal centers. The flexible multi-mic setup – from close to ambient perspectives – invites creative sound design, letting you sculpt everything from tight rhythmic layers to wide cinematic expanses.

Percussion Ensemble Riffs

The Percussion Ensemble Riffs deliver the primal force and drive that anchor the symphonic riffs – a wide selection of powerful, loop-based patterns performed by Vienna’s elite percussionists. These rhythmic layers can stand alone or blend seamlessly with the orchestral riffs for instant blockbuster energy.

Patterns are grouped by frequency range into Main Riffs, Low Riffs, and High Riffs. The Main and Low Riffs feature Taiko drums, bass drum, and concert toms, while the High Riffs bring extra sparkle and agility with snare drum, stacked cymbals, congas, and bongos. Mix, match, and stack patterns freely to create monumental percussion ensembles. Each pattern includes a single-stroke ending, allowing you to end or accentuate phrases dynamically at any point during the 4-bar loop.

Recorded with multiple microphones – close, overhead, Decca tree, surround, and high surround – the percussion ensemble was positioned across the stage (left, center, right), capturing the full breadth and depth of the large hall of Vienna Synchron Stage. All signals are accessible and adjustable in the Synchron Player’s powerful mixer, giving you total control over the spatial image and intensity. Naturally, these performances blend perfectly with the BBO Percussion ensembles, recorded in the same setup, for endless rhythmic variations and accents.

Stereo Decca Tree Presets

The "Decca tree" is the microphone tree that is the heart and soul of every orchestral recording. It consists of a main stereo channel and a mono center channel and captures the details of the room from the conductor’s perspective.

Surround to Stereo Presets

Enjoy the massive sound of all available room microphones, including the decca tree mics, down-mixed to a stereo signal. You will get a great impression of the huge sound our Synchron Stage Vienna is known for.
