Electric Grand C70P is based on the Yamaha CP70B electric grand, which was developed in the "70s for stage pianists who desired the depth of expression of an acoustic grand piano, but at volumes that could compete with the rest of any band. Though reduced in size compared to a full grand piano, electric grand pianos employed the same action of hammers hitting strings, with their vibrations captured by electromagnetic pickups rather than microphones.
