ADD 2x12 G12S50 from Choptones is a SuperCabinet IR Library created by capturing the ADA* 2x12 with Celestion* G12S-50 speakers. It is an extensive and systematic capture created with 11 microphones, 8 to 16 positions for each microphone and multiple Mic preamps, for more than 300 IRs in total.
In the 80s and 90s these amazing cabs could easily be found on stages all over the world. With a really nice and balanced tone this is a must for old guitar tone lovers. The speaker, a perfect match for the 80s ADA* 2x12 cabinets, is a 50 Watt Celestion speaker with a boost in the high-mids. Microphone captures were performed with a motorized mic stand in order to have consistent measurements across libraries.
MADE FOR THE SUPERCABINET
This library is created for the TH-U SuperCabinet, which allows users to:
- Graphically browse the IRs in the library
- Blend them together
- Craft new cabinet tones with the unique Multiband mode
- Use the IR in the software
- Export the IRs in .wav, compatible with the software IR loaders and all the major hardware modelers
The microphones used during the capturing session are:
- AKG* C414
- Audio Technica* 2035
- Beyerdynamic* M160
- Electrovoice* RE20
- Neumann* U87
- Royer* 121
- Sennheiser* MD21
- Sennheiser* MD421
- Sennheiser* MD441
- Shure* SM7
- Shure* SM57
Every microphone was moved to four different horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone and Cone Edge) and two distances, for a total of eight IRs each.
For some microphones, the set of eight measurements was repeated with the microphone off axis (45 deg). All the measurement sets were repeated twice, with two different Mic preamps: a Neve* 1073 and a German preamp.
